My Time in Rwanda

Early in October 2017 I spent one week of my holidays with 19 colleagues from 14 different countries supporting Hope Made Real, a home from children in need, in a small town in Rwanda called Urukundo. It was probably one of the best weeks of my life.

I also had the opportunity to meet and work very closely with Mama Arlene, an 87 seven years old women who is the founder of the Urukundo foundation. She’s one of the most inspiring person I’ve ever met in my life.

we were supporting these amazing kids on the daily basis at Hope Made Real and also teaching them about our country in the local primary school. We also took them to the school early in the morning at 06;45 am and we played football and various games with them in the afternoon. Apart from that we re-decorated the dining room with a beautiful painted tree on the wall and with some balloons too.

Mama Arlene was so happy all the donations and presents for the kids that we brought in our luggage.

Overall I had a great experience. I would love to come back soon buy my marathon challenge is taking up most of my time at the moment; But I look forward to seeing the kids in 2019.
